Crowd guidance through dynamic light art
As seen on GLOW 2022, GLOW 2023 & Kennisfestival Brainport 2024
This project aimed to create a dynamic and aesthetic solution for crowd-management. Besides a proof-of-concept for a digital crowd-management dashboard we focused on technical scalability as well. Over the course of eight months we decreased the number of parts by 50% from v1 to v2, increased light output by 100%, had three custom parts manufactured, increased electrical robustness, programmed dynamic animations and installed the artwork at the Van Abbe museum.

Shape-changing Co-Seat, mediating personal space and public ownership
The Co-Seat is the result of a research-through-design approach to make transformation experiential. By continuously switching perspectives and design-concepting methods an experiential vision was created, the Co-Seat. It lets users shape their own seat creating a personal space, while literally feeling the other user's presence through the air inside the seat. After the user leaves, the seat will inflate again to make itself available for the next user.

(Interactive) Lighting design
Light is a medium that opens doors to endless creativity. Light mediates feelings, interactions and the space around us, that's what makes it so fun forme. I use light to create atmosphere, communicate or add functionality to a product and even to create experiences. My designs show my design philosophy; Sleek, functional, but expressive. They take a stance and let your mind wander.

Interior design for student built community housing
2nd in the Solar Decathlon 2022 Human-Centered interior design award
Creating interior design has taught me how functionality and aesthetics can be combined. During my time at VIRTU/e I have helped to design, manufacture and build the bed/cabinet combinations and made the house a livable place. At Yksi Ontwerp I have further developed my skills creating interior design moodboards, designs and presenting my proposals to clients.

Stress-relief device for student drivers
Although this is an early project, it greatly shows the elements that form the basis of my current design repertoire. Combining practical design skills like programming, prototyping and crafting I address complex and personal issues. In this case using gamification and mindfulness light-therapy for stressed student drivers.

Interactive anti-food waste dashboard for in the home
EI-RO, representing the black-hole of food waste, is a tangible user interface that provides the means for people to fully prevent food waste in the household. By providing reminders, knowledge and assistance EI-RO acts as an innovative food management dashboard for perishables. This project challenged me to increase my technical skills. The demonstrator combined interactive moving 'tangible notifications' and a screen to give the user all the info they need to prevent food waste.
